Night Owls-Out of Hours Mental Health Support

Night Owls is a new mental health support service. It's available through the night 8pm-8am for children, young people, parents and carers across West Yorkshire. 

 

 

 

Night OWLS can help you if you...

  • feel you have nowhere to turn
  • feel you can't go on living
  • are in a crisis
  • are finding it hard to cope with life
  • are feeling angry, lonely, anxious or depressed
  • are feeling confused or finding it hard to think straight
  • are feeling unsafe
  • are caring for a young person
  • just want to talk

National treasure, and without doubt one of Britain’s most talented and best loved comedians & performers, Billy Pearce emerged from the fertile talent fields of Butlins in the mid 1980’s. Multi Award winner Billy, has won just about every comedy award going, including a British comedy award, Solo comedian of the year, and Best television comedy newcomer at the London Palladium.

Step by Step drop-in sessions

Step by Step is a free drop-in session, open to anyone who wants help and advice. 

Step by Step staff can help with:

  • Support to access financial assistance in times of crisis such as food banks and welfare services
  • Advice on benefits and housing support
  • Advice on training and volunteering opportunities
  • Computer skills and accessing the Internet
  • Writing a CV and offering help with interview skills
  • Accessing latest job opportunities in the area

This is not an exhaustive list; Step by Step provides support with any presenting issue and aims to resolve or signpost to relevant services.

The LAB Project

Help improve your confidence, digital skills and employability with this digital LAB Project delivered by Proper Job Theatre Company

Designed for unemployed adults aged 19+, the LAB Project is a two week course combining team working, confidence building and communication skills, working towards participants delivering a drama workshop in a school during the second week.

There is also the opportunity for participants who complete the course will gain an accredited Level 1 Award in Progression.

This is followed by development of individual action plans, a tailored progression route for each participant and follow up sessions working alongside individuals for 6 weeks following the course.

Tell Tracy – Police and Crime Plan Consultation

 Tracy Brabin, the Mayor of West Yorkshire has launched a consultation to inform her first Police and Crime Plan.

The Mayor is urging everyone in West Yorkshire to get involved and #TellTracy about your policing and community safety priorities.

The consultation will feed directly into the new Plan which sets the strategic direction for West Yorkshire Police, community safety partners and commissioned services over the next three years.

An online survey, available in a number of languages, has been launched along with a host of other options to get involved.

The consultation will run until 19th November with the online survey closing for responses on 17th October.
