Children's Mental Health Week
1st-7th February is Children's Mental Health Week and this year's theme is Express Yourself.
Expressing yourself is about finding ways to share feelings, thoughts, or ideas, through creativity. This could be through art, music, writing and poetry, dance and drama, photography and film, and doing activities that make you feel good.
Place2Be have a range of free resources to help children and young people to explore what it means to Express Yourself. All of the ideas can be adapted for use in school, for home-schooling, online lessons or independent learning:
Children's Mental Health - Batley and Birstall
There are many sources of support available to our children locally:
- Northorpe Hall (based in Mirfield) support children and families in Kirklees in relation to health and wellbeing Northorpe Hall Child & Family Trust
- Luke’s Lads Juniors (for males) and Butterflies Juniors (for females) are fitness and wellbeing sessions run in Jo Cox House, Batley Projects | Tcd1 (tcd-charity.co.uk)

- Thriving Kirklees have an excellent resources pack with lots of ideas on where you can access help for children and young people. Coping with Changes: Social-Emotional Learning Through Play - Online Course
Future Learn together with the LEGO Foundation are providing this useful course to help you learn how to provide playful and engaging social emotional learning (SEL) support to children affected by COVID-19 disruption.
