With national restrictions easing up, there are a lot of groups and classes taking place in Batley and Birstall area!
New Men Walking group
Yoga is back in Howden Clough Community Centre week beginning 17th May.
Booking is mandatory due to ongoing Covid-19 restrictions.
Do you care for or support a young person between the age of 8 and 17 who has learning difficulties/physical disabilities? Does the young person enjoy the theatre?
PossAbilities is a partially funded project in the Kirklees area and we are looking for young people who would like to be part of producing a play about discrimination related to their own experiences. The project looks at all elements of producing a play from learning how to write scripts, creating sets, casting roles and acting, once the play has been written by participants of the project.
Parent and Toddler Dance Class

These classes are open to everyone and your little ones are welcome to join in, maximum of one child per adult participant.
Our instructor is pre & post natal specialist trained, so if you are pregnant or have just given birth, these classes can be adapted to suit you and your needs.

Kirklees Adult Community Learning free courses
Kirklees Success Centre are running the following courses in the summer term:
Phonics – gets a basic understanding of how first steps in reading is taught in school – great for parents who want to help their families, especially as children have lost so much school time. Parents can be more confident when helping their child around phonics…..or great for those looking to work in school to be able to add to their cv, prepare tasks for interview.
Engage in reading – how to use books with children to support reading, comprehension, build excitement, explore the features different books have – great for parents to build confidence around reading books with their children and developing the child’s skills further than a story, which will impact the lost time learning over lockdown – also great for those wanting to work in schools or libraries to pick up skills and pass on their passion of books.
Your maths, our maths – how schools do maths today, build your confidence in maths if you have children in school or if you feel you’re not ready for a level 1 course at college.
Maths Mates – love maths? Train to be a volunteer in school to help with maths (volunteering from Sept) to bridge the learning gap and also find out about school requirements such as safeguarding, health and safety etc.
Mentoring for Health and Wellbeing – train to be a mentor to volunteer (currently online) with New2English, working alongside qualified ESOL teachers, you will mentor adult learners learning English once trained.
Dare to Dream – What next? College? Employment? Wondering if you could be self- employed? A course new to Kirklees but successful elsewhere, setting goals to achieve your dreams.
Steps – building confidence by looking at how we think, where our beliefs come from, who affects our thinking and how we can make small steps to become more confident.
