Kirklees Pride 2021

June is Pride month, it is a month dedicated to celebrating the LGBTQ+ communities all around the world.

Pride is usually celebrated with lots of parades and marches but with coronavirus and social distancing still in place, things will be a little different this year. To mark the event the Cohesion team are delivering a session to mark 40 years of Pride in Kirklees.

The interactive session aims to raise awareness of the significance of Pride, and the story behind the Pride flag. The session will also look at hate crime its impact on communities and how to report hate crime.

To join the event, please book your ticket via Eventbrite and you will be sent a Microsoft Teams link to join in the day.

 Refugee Week 2021

"Kirklees is a place of welcome and much work takes place across Kirklees on a daily basis to support those who are new to Kirklees and especially those who are seeking protection, we call this #KirkleesWelcomes.

Refugee Week 2021 is taking place from the 14th to 20th June. The idea that we cannot walk alone is one of recognising and celebrating allyship and inclusion and this is an opportunity to celebrate the contributions refugees in our communities are making to the arts, culture, and society to show support for refugees who have been forced from their homes.

There are a range of activities and events taking place locally, regionally and nationally that #KirkleesWelcomes are highlighting."
